Commercial pickup in Harris, Fort Bend, and Montgomery County

OnFarmCompost

Composting Company in Houston

A Houston-area composting company

OnFarmCompost is a locally based composting company serving businesses across Harris County, Fort Bend County, and Montgomery County. We handle both sides of the loop: weekly pickup of vegetative food waste from produce markets, supermarkets, grocers, produce operations, and food producers, and composting that happens directly on local farms.

Commercial pickup

Businesses get 55-gallon food-grade drums with gasket-sealed lids, placed outside near the dumpster. Never in the kitchen. Your crew keeps its own lined garbage can inside, ties the liner like a normal trash bag, and carries it to the drum instead of the dumpster. We run a weekly route: haul the full drums, weigh them, leave clean ones. A monthly ESG-ready diversion report comes standard.

Where the compost goes

There’s no compost yard in our model. Food waste goes straight to local farms and is sheet-composted on the land it will feed. The finished compost stays on those farms and is used to build their soil. It isn’t bagged, resold, or trucked back out. That’s what keeps the loop local.

What we accept

  • Produce culls, trim, and overripe or unsold fruit and vegetables
  • Bulk dry goods, depackaged: flour, grain, expired shelf-stable produce
  • Coffee grounds and eggshells

We keep out meat, bones, dairy, and post-service plate scrapings. Composting happens on working farms rather than at a permitted facility, and a vegetative feedstock is what lets those farms take material without changing their regulatory footing. We also keep out grease of every kind including fryer oil, paper of any kind including napkins and coffee filters, and plastics of any kind, including anything labeled “compostable.”

Service area

We serve Harris County, Fort Bend County, and Montgomery County. Contact us with your business address to confirm your route day.

For farmers

Farmers are our other client. We deliver food waste and animal manure, consult on compost and soil, or run full-service composting on your property start to finish. Sheet composting builds organic matter directly on the receiving land, with no compost yard or bagging step in between. Whether it beats buying finished compost depends on your site, crop, and current cost, so it is worked out per farm.

Composting instead of landfilling

When food scraps land in a landfill, they decompose without oxygen and release methane. Diverting them with a local composting company turns that same material into farmland soil. Your kitchen waste stops being waste and starts feeding farms in this region.
